The remarkable feature of the design of the house is its feeling of space. The rooms are large, the living area is open, the vistas are brought into the house through tall windows, skylights and terraces. One can enjoy morning coffee while watching the sun play with shadows on the Guanajuato Mountains in the distance or end the day with a lovely sunset that turns the mountains to purple and the presa below them to a sliver of orange.
In addition to a traditional Mexican style, the architect incorporated features of Mexican contemporary design such as the Luis Barragan-style steps leading to the top floor and the use of glass blocks on the fountain on the main terrace.
One of the main advantages to living in San Miguel de Allende is that all of its culture is easily accessible if you live near the center – its parks, restaurants, music venues, art, and celebrations are within walking distance. This house is close to everything – a short walk to the heart of centro – but above the traffic and bustle of downtown.
The house is on a “mixed” street with Mexican neighbors mingling with “gringos” to create a caring, pleasant and very safe environment where everyone takes an interest in keeping the neighborhood that way.
